But you shouldn’t neglect the smaller, simpler choices, like choosing bathroom taps. Even the small choices you make can have a big influence on the overall appeal and effect of your completed bathroom. So how can you choose the perfect taps for your new bathroom?

Choosing bathroom taps

When it comes to choosing bathroom taps there are a couple of key decisions to be made. These include:

  • the size of the basin or bath
  • the style of the bathroom
  • one tap or two?

The size

Size is an important consideration that is sometimes overlooked when choosing taps. You will need to know how far the spout of your taps, needs to protrude into the basin. Too small, and the water will rebound off the back of the sink or bath, and too far, and the water is likely to splash out of the front of the sink.

The style of the bathroom

If your bathroom is traditional, you should choose some taps to reflect this. While for a contemporary bathroom, you will need to choose contemporary taps. The style of the tap is shown in the design. Anything with intricate design is generally more suitable for a traditional or rustic bathroom. While contemporary tap design focuses on the linear, and smooth, design with no embellishments.

One tap or two?

Mixer taps with a lever are a popular option for some contemporary bathrooms, But you might have selected a basin with two tap holes. Either way, your taps will still fit your bathroom, as long as they are the right size and style.
