What are the important considerations for designing a family bathroom space?

If you are redesigning or renovating your bathroom space, with family usage in mind, there are some considerations to take into account. These include:

  • Storage space- although this is often forgotten about until the last minute, storage space for a family bathroom is vitally important. From towels to toiletries and cleaning products, you will need a safe space to store a number of common bathroom items. Especially if you want to keep your bathroom looking great, and fully safe for any younger family members.
  • Shower or bath- for family bathrooms both a shower and a bath can be ideal, depending on your preferences and routine. If you can fit both into your bathroom space, you should seriously consider it. However, if you only have space for one or the other, you will need to decide based on your circumstances. For young children, a bath can be more suitable than a shower, but for older children, they might prefer using a shower space anyway.
  • Twin sinks- for larger family bathrooms, a twin sink system can be a great option. This can help speed up your morning and evening routines, and provide enough space for two people to get ready at once. For smaller bathrooms, while a twin sink won’t be suitable, you could opt for a vanity unit, providing storage underneath the sink for a two in one solution.
